One Provider's Story

“Extra love makes children grow as individuals.” Danielle the owner and director of Woodbury Preschool Village strongly believes in this statement. This is one of the philosophies that keep her business going strong for eighteen years. After a lot of hard work and long hours Danielle turned her dream into a reality. Woodbury Preschool Village is on an acre of land and has seven different cottages with a homey feel for different age groups.

Danielle and the teachers aren’t attached to any specific single philosophy. They believe philosophies are eclectic and there are useful things in all of them. They do however, encourage imagination and exploration. “Children learn through play.” Danielle strongly believes kids should be hands on and learn by playing with other children and using exploration instead of a certain curriculum.

The teachers at Woodbury Preschool Village pride themselves on keeping a loving a nurturing environment for the children. One of the most touching moments of working at Woodbury Preschool Village is when an eighth or ninth grader will remember Danielle and run up and give her a hug. “Foundations go unnoticed but what kids remember is how much you care for them.” Danielle and the other teachers like to teach emotional intelligence. “We believe every little bit of extra love gives building blocks for children to grow.

Another touching moment for Danielle is when teachers who taught in previous years leave, have children and return for their children to attend Woodbury Preschool Village. She knows she has created a nurturing, caring and loving environment because those parents want the best for their kids and they feel Woodbury Preschool Village can give that. One of the things parents notice about the staff at Woodbury Preschool Village is the respect and love they have for each other. That makes a comfortable environment for the children.

Danielle’s focus has been to set the foundation of love, nurture and respect. The rest is up to the parents. As long as the children are cared for and have positive role models they will turn to be amazing individuals. Danielle feels she has done her job knowing the children she has cared for can grow up and still remember her, her staff and how much they cared and loved them.
